A NEW shop has officially opened at Hatherell's Yard in Chipping Sodbury.

The new shop has been opened by Heather Humphries and sells hats and other head accessories.

Heather Norman officially opened in Hatherell's Yard a few weeks ago and the owner, Heather, revealed it had gone well so far.

"I was so excited to receive the keys to my little unit in Hatherell’s Yard, on the 1st August," she explained.

"With the help and support of my family and friends we transformed the empty unit into a beautiful hat boutique where my large range of hats can be seen.

"I am a milliner who trained for several years with the British Milliner’s Guild, under the very talented Ani Stafford-Townsend.

"I named my hat business after my father Norman as he always support my mother’s millinery shop and encouraged me to become involved, this is where my passion began.

"My husband Kevin Humphries has been a driving force behind my passion for millinery and has supported and encouraged me to achieve my dream."

Heather makes all of the hats that she sells in the shop and revealed that she takes a lot of her inspiration from what she sees in the world.

"I love working with felt, silk, jinsin, sinamay and wax cotton," she continued.

"All my hats are handmade and blocked on wooden blocks from Wiltshire based Guy Morse-Brown.

"Much of my inspirations come from nature, especially flowers and shapes you see around you.

"I have traded in Hatherell’s Yard Saturday Market for over two years and have always wanted to have a shop where I could showcase my full range.

"I specialise in bespoke one offs designs for that special event, weddings, the races and garden parties. Each hat is created with the customer’s involvement throughout the process to ensure a perfect design is achieved."

The shop is open in the yard Monday to Saturday, 9am until 5pm.
