Numerous shops in Chipping Sodbury are taking part in a national scheme to try and encourage customers to use our high streets.

The campaign, called Fiver Fest, aims to highlight shops on the high streets and what they sell.

A number of different shops, that all form part of the Chipping Sodbury Chamber of Commerce, are taking part in the scheme.

It has been running throughout the week from October 5 until October 12 with shops offering special deals for just £5.

Shops offering deals include: MADD Sandwich, Swagger Gifts, Koala Kreations, Not Too Shabby, RNL Hairdressers, Coffee Bean, Health food shop, Natural Treats Bristol, The Sodbury Florist, Brooks Bar and Shabby Chic.

Offers at these shops include drinks and sandwich deals, children's hair cuts and hair products.

Stats show that if every adult in the UK spent just £5 per week in their local high street it could be worth up to £13.5 billion for small independent business owners.

Alice Crowley of Swagger in the High Street spotted the scheme and convinced other businesses to get involved.

"I discovered it online and thought that we should be doing it as well," she said.

"I approached the Chamber of Commerce and they really supported it.

"It has been a tough year and this incentive is aimed at helping that.

"We have had a lot of customers come in because of the scheme, a lot of people have said they have seen us advertising it on Facebook so it has definitely helped.

"A lot of people have been responding on Instagram as well.

"We really want to increase footfall in shops so it has been good.

"I think people like high street shops because they are more customer focussed, we know a lot of our people that come in.

"I think the message is that we need to support our high streets otherwise they will disappear which would be a huge shame."

As previously stated Fiver Fest will be running in the listed shops until October 12.
