MP for Thornbury and Yate Luke Hall has revealed his delight at the news that Avon and Somerset Police are set to recruit 137 officers.
Mr Hall praised the news, stating that it was a ‘good step’ towards tackling crime in the region.
“The new police officers will be tacking the anti-social behaviour in Thornbury, speeding in Yate and rural crime around our villages," he said.
“Recruitment is already underway and the 137 new officers on the beat next year is just the beginning.
"More are expected to be recruited the following year.
“Tackling crime is a priority and we are putting more police on the streets to keep our community safe.”
