A woman is receiving treatment in hospital after returning home to find her house near Cirencester had been burgled.
It is believed the victim's condition was brought on by the shock of discovering her house on Oaksey Road, Poole Keynes, had been ransacked and thousands of pounds worth of jewellery stolen.
The thieves forced entry into the house between lunchtime and 8pm yesterday before making off with a large quantity of jewellery.
The victim continues to be monitored at Great Western Hospital in Swindon and enquiries are ongoing.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has information to come forward.
Anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident 375 of October 18.
