Police have confirmed that two boys had their mobile phones stolen by a teenager at knife point in Yate. 

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We have been contacted about the theft of a phone from the Yate area.

"The victim was sat on a bench with his friend when they were approached by a male teenager who demanded their mobile phones. He took the victim's phone but left the other because it had a flat battery.

"The suspect who had, what appeared to be a small knife with him, ran off in the direction of the nearby new development - Ladden Village.

"Neither the victim or his friend were injured. They cycled home to report the incident."

A post on social media from a parent of one of the victims posted yesterday said: "A post I never thought I would write but all parents be aware.

"Today my child and his friend got threatened in Brimsham lake park by a teenager with a knife taking his phone and scaring them.

"He is was roughly 15 to 16 years old with curly black hair, black jeans a black puffer coat with white IL label, black Nike airforce trainers.

"This has been reported to the police so if anyone today at 4:15pm was in the Brimsham area and saw someone matching this description please get in contact. We know one passer by was in the park. Children should not have to experience this ever."
