The Thomas Cook shop in Yate has announced that it is due to reopen next week after the firm was saved by Hays Travel.

The news was posted on social media, with the team confirming that the store will be open as usual on Monday, October 28.

The post said: “Thomas Cook in Yate will be reopening on Monday 28th October at 9am under the new name of Hays Travel.

“Pop in and say hello! Looking forward to seeing you.”

It is believed that a number of employees will be returning.

Comments on social media were incredibly supportive of the news, with one user saying: “This is the best news ever, I am really pleased.”

Another user said: “This is amazing news.”

The shop is located on East Walk and will be renamed Hays Travel.

Thomas Cook ceased trading in late September after failing to secure a last-ditch rescue deal, leaving an estimated 150,000 Britons abroad.

The travel giant was unable to secure the extra £200 million needed to keep the business afloat but Hays Travel then stepped in.
