Thornbury's 'community spirit' has been praised following a fire last night.

Firefighters were called to Stafford Crescent shortly after 8pm to a fire in a first floor flat.

Crews used breathing apparatus, two high-pressure hose reels and a 45mm jet to extinguish the fire. The ambulance service and police were also in attendance.

A post from Thornbury Fire Station on social media praised the town's 'community spirit' and the neighbours who offered help and shelter to those affected.
