A major commuter road for residents in Yate will be closed for three days as essential maintenance is carried out in preparation for work next year.

A section of Westerleigh Road, from the Folly Pub to the junction with the B4465 for Pucklechurch will be closed, between Tuesday, November 12 until Thursday, November 14.

South Gloucestershire Council posted an update on their Streetcare Facebook page, updating residents of the closure between certain hours.

They said: "We are carrying out essential maintenance work to this section of road during off peak hours (9.30am-3.30pm) for three days from Tuesday 12 November to Thursday 14 November.

"We are very sorry but we cannot carry out these works safely without closing the road.

"A signed diversion will be in place.

"Access to properties and businesses will be maintained via either the eastern or western side of the road (whichever is clear of works at the time).

"We will do everything we can to minimise disruption and we apologise for the inconvenience.

"These works are in advance of a surfacing scheme due to take place on Westerleigh Road in 2020."
