A popular pub in Thornbury has again helped support the Christmas light switch-on in the town.

The Swan on the High Street has raised over £127,000 for 45 charities since 2012.

It will now support the switch-on event for the seventh consecutive year.

Recently shortlisted in pub awards for its ongoing contribution to the community, The Swan on High Street turned on its famous Christmas lights alongside other local business as part of Thornbury Lights Association’s annual switch on on Tuesday.

Publican, Sandra Davies, said: “Christmas is an extremely popular time within the Thornbury community, and it means a lot to us to be part of the Lights Association’s annual switch on.

“We get a lot of comments about our own Christmas lights outside the pub and it’s always a magical experience.

“It’s important to us to get involved in community events like this.

“It’s particularly rewarding to see so many friendly faces enjoying themselves at such a special time of year.”
