Staff and students at Thornbury's Castle School joined forces last week to raise money for Children in Need.
As well as raising money through a non-uniform day, different year groups all ran their own charitable events during break and lunchtime, aimed at raising funds and having fun at the same time.
Activities ranged from wacky races between staff and Year 7 students, with new headteacher Mr Docherty getting involved, to brave teachers getting sponged by students in spite of the freezing weather.
Other initiatives included cake sales, games, quizzes and face-painting.
Mr Docherty, headteacher, explained: “ Our school vision is to be at the heart of our local and global community, so activities that encourage students to think of others who need their help are something that we are keen to encourage.”
Mrs Bradford, deputy headteacher, added: “The atmosphere in school was fantastic. It was lovely to see so many students getting involved and having a good time.”
The school raised more than £2200 for Children in Need over the course of the day.
Students are now planning more fundraising events for the rest of the academic year, as each year group has identified a different charity that it wishes to support.
