SIXTH form students in Yate were the audience as two of the Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for the Thornbury and Yate constituency discussed political issues ahead of the general election.
Liberal Democrat Claire Young and Labour Party candidate Rob Logan both attended the special event at Yate Academy, where students had gathered to find out more ahead of the general election.
Conservative Luke Hall did not attend.
Due to the timing of the election, some students in the final year of sixth form will be eligible to vote for the first time.
A number of issues were discussed, with students also asking questions.
The Head of Sixth Form at Yate Academy, Patrick Bolster said:” It was a fantastic opportunity for young people
“Being able to hear the arguments put by two of the parliamentary candidates for the area has inspired important debate among our student population.”
