The Quarry Chapel, Cam, has been working with the local community to create a large 3D Advent calendar to celebrate Christmas this year.

With the support of local charities, businesses and SGS College carpentry students, Abi Nicol, development worker for the Chapel, has worked with 24 different groups in Cam and Dursley.

This wonderful project where groups have made a Christmas scene housed in a large wooden box will be installed outside The Chapel from December 1.

Each night one box will be lit to spread light and joy to residents and visitors alike.

Rev Simon Helme said: “Advent and Christmas is a time of hope, joy, peace and love. We hope these advent boxes, put together by various groups in our community, will bring you a sense of these precious gifts that money cannot buy.”

The illuminated artworks will be available to view from 3.30-7pm each day from December 1-24.

It has been really exciting to bring people together including our local schools, Yercombe Lodge, GL11, Kingshill House, Stinchcombe Manor, The Door Youth Club, young mums and local residents to name just a few. Come along to see the illuminated artworks between 3.30-7pm each day and marvel at the diversity of the work on show. This is a free event for the community * I would be very happy to add to this story and supply more pictures of the work being made - it will be installed on Friday this week, ready for 1st Dec.
