Thornbury in Bloom has awarded Castle School Friends a special trophy and certificate for Outstanding Community Engagement.

The groups worked together to impress the judges of this year’s Britain in Bloom, with Thornbury winning the Champion of Champions award.

Judges were shown the improvements Castle School Friends made at the school which include painting 250 yards of railings, building an insect house, creating new flowerbeds and displaying student artwork outdoors.

CSF chair Sara Iles said: “This is recognition of the work from parents, friends, students and teachers to lift up Castle School and make the place blooming marvellous again. Working with Thornbury in Bloom has been back-breaking but lots of fun and this award is much appreciated.”
