A GLOUCESTERSHIRE sister and brother lost their mother, Colombine Charnock, following a tragic accident caused by the pedal confusion of an older driver.

This inspired them to establish a branch of the Older Driver Forum in Gloucestershire to spread awareness on how to keep older drivers, driving safely for longer.

But also, how to plan an alternative mobility strategy when it is time to retire from driving.

This evening (Wednesday, December 4) at 7pm they are holding an inaugural public awareness event at the Stroud Brewery, London Road, Brimscombe, GL5 2BY.

This will take the form of a presentation followed by a Q&A. (Duration 1 ½ hours.)

It is targeted at family members and friends of an older driver who may have concerns about their loved one’s driving and are looking for help on how to address this emotive subject.

Older drivers are also very welcome to attend.

The event is supported by Rotary in Nailsworth and the Stroud Brewery.

No entry charge will be made but there is the opportunity to donate to fund ongoing Older Driver Forum activities.
