A CRUNCH meeting is due to be held over the weekend to discuss the future of a parish church near Dursley.

St Mark’s Church in Woodmancote will be discussed at the meeting on Saturday.

The Rev Canon Michael Cozens is encouraging all residents in the area to attend and have their say.

Archdeacon of Gloucester the Venerable Hilary Dawson and other representatives from the Diocese of Gloucester will also attend.

“This meeting is being called to discuss the future of St Mark’s and will be attended by the Archdeacon of Gloucester and other representatives from the Diocese of Gloucester,” said Mr Cozens.

“There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion, all are very welcome to attend.

“There is certainly a question mark over the future of St Mark’s.

“We are struggling to find people who are interested in coming on board to help us run the church.

“We are also really struggling to find someone who is happy to take on the maintenance of the church as well.

“It is an old building and obviously that then places a strain on funding because it takes a lot of work.

“We are only holding this meeting to discuss the future of the church at the moment no decision has been made.

“We also have St James’ Church just a five minute walk away, we invite anyone to come and voice their own opinions.”

The meeting will be held at St Mark’s Church and will be starting at 11am.
