A resident in South Gloucestershire has been left furious after his car was damaged in a hit and run in the early hours of the morning on New Year's Day.

Steve Baber had parked his car on Underhill Road in Charfield on New Year's Eve before a car crashed in to it at 1.10am, with the driver not stopping.

Before Steve could get out of the house to confront the driver they were gone.

An eye witness tried to stop the driver by standing in the road but was almost run over in the process.

"A car crashed into my parked car on Underhill Road and before I could get out of the house they drove off at speed," Steve explained.

"An eye witness tried to stop the driver by standing in the road but was almost run down.

"Two other people witnessed the collision and managed to get the registration number.

"I phoned the Police on 999 who were helpful.

"I was text an incident number and that they had sent details to Avon and Somerset Police as that is the Force I'm under.

"I had a text from them to tell me to fill in an online form about what had occurred. No one was going to come out or try to find the driver of the car that left the scene of an accident.

"All I do know is that it was a Silver Ford Focus.

"Now I would like to appeal to the people of the local area of Charfield to keep an eye open for this Ford Focus and Please let me know who or where the owner is.

"Or if the owner reads this, maybe they could return to the scene and sort this out."
