THE streets of Wotton under Edge are set to be transformed into a magical, outdoor gallery next month.

Window Wanderland, a window-display-based walking trail involving over 100 properties, is taking place around the town from February 7 to 9.

This Under the Edge Arts community project is already bringing neighbours, friends and families around the table to work out designs.

The Window Wanderland concept was developed in Bristol by set designer, Lucy Reeves Khan in 2015 and has since been held throughout the UK and internationally too.

Inspired by her imagination, her community spirit and her personal experiences of isolation due to years of chronic illness, Lucy imagined her local streets alive with other people viewing dramatic, beautiful or just silly scenes in the windows around her neighbourhood.

She wondered if, in the dark of winter, these displays would cheer up others too.

She put on her first event in her own community. It was a huge success and the idea has since been taken up by many other communities too. Wotton's event is the first to be held in Gloucestershire.

There is still plenty of time to register to take part at windowwanderland.com.

The suggested theme is a celebration of our planet and the natural world.

Windows will be lit up to 10pm on the three evenings.
