THE Co-op in Cainscross faces an uncertain future following a review of the store.

It will continue to trade as usual until a final decision has been made on the store in Cashes Green.

A spokesperson for Midcounties Co-operative, said: "Following a full strategic review of its food retail business, the Midcounties Co-operative has identified a small number of stores which in their current format do not fit with the long-term strategy of the Society.

"This includes the Cainscross store. No decision has been made on the future of these stores at this time and they continue to trade as usual.

"We are considering the best approach for each site, including reviewing if the stores can be redeveloped, reduced in size or if an appropriate new site nearby can be located.

"We have also placed some of these properties on the market to assess the level of interest from potential buyers.

"In regards to the Cainscross site, we have not entered into any agreements with any parties and are considering how we make best use of the site for the long term. We will continue to keep colleagues, customers and members updated as plans develop."
