Police were called to Lloyds Bank in Stroud yesterday following concerns for the welfare of an elderly man who was attempting to withdraw money.
A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesman said: "It was reported that a man in his 70's had been taken to withdraw the money by two men in a van who had persuaded him to have maintenance work done to his home.
"Officers stopped a van which matched the description nearby and it was found that this was a call with good intent as the van was not involved and the man did not withdraw or handover any money."
