Police are investigating an incident of suspected animal cruelty after a dead fox was found in Thornbury.

The creature was discovered in Spey Close on Saturday afternoon, reportedly with a strap around its neck.

The incident was decried as 'absolutely disgusting' when discussed on social media.

One commenter said: "I just don't understand why anyone would hurt any innocent animals."

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We received a report of an incident of suspected animal cruelty on Saturday.
