A 23-year-old man has avoided jail despite being found carrying a baton and MDMA.
Harry James, of Gorse Cover Road Severn Beach, was stopped on September 27 last year.
He appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on January 31.
He was also in possession of cannabis when stopped.
James' indicated plea of guilty was taken in to account when being sentenced.
He was given a combined prison sentence of 8 months suspended for one year.
James was also fined £122.
All possessions were confiscated and the drugs were destroyed.
