PREPARATIONS are well under way for the third Thornbury Jazz Festival, taking place at the Armstrong Hall on Saturday, March 28.
Top of the bill is Remi Harris with his virtuoso arrangements of jazz greats that recall the Hot Club of Paris.
Also appearing are Bristol-based band Sinead and the Sinnermen, with a collection of numbers from the Great American Songbook and elsewhere.
The Kris Nock Big Band and the Jenner Jazz Quartet will also be performing.
The evening begins at 6 pm and end at 11.30 pm. Tickets are £20 and are available from Thornbury Town Hall or by calling 01454 412272.
A choice of hot food will be available and meal tickets (£8) can be bought in advance. Organisers expect the event to sell out, as in previous years, so early booking is advised.
The poster for this year’s Festival was designed by Josiah Hendy, of the Castle School Sixth Form’s art class.
Co-organiser of the event Gareth Williams said: “Josiah’s winning design is brilliant and evokes the image of the fabled Monterey Jazz Festival during the 1960s.
“Many congratulations to him, and to the other students who entered the competition and produced a stunning collection of inspired and original designs.
“And thanks are due to Laura Knowles at Castle School for masterminding the competition.”
