FUNDRAISING is in the works so a man with cancer can make happy memories doing the things on his bucket list.

Simon Ashworth from Chipping Campden has been recently diagnosed with an aggressive and fast growing malignant brain tumour called a glioblastoma. It only started growing about three months ago and is already the size of a large lime. Neurosurgeons will perform an operation, and are hoping to be able to remove the majority of it. They can’t take too much because it’s buried deep within Simon’s brain, and too close to some vital areas that control movement and cognition. After about a month he will start concurrent courses of chemo and radiotherapy, which will mean a trip to Oxford every day for six weeks. The official life expectancy stats are quite shocking - 5% of people live up to 5 years, 25% for 2 years and 50% will live up to 18 months.

Simon's sister Victoria said: "This is obviously devastating news for Simon and his wife Jo. For this reason they’re putting together a bucket list, to try and make the rest of Simon’s life as happy and fulfilling as they can."

"They want to do some travelling, some of the places on their list are New Zealand, Cook Islands, Madagascar, Italy, France and Cornwall to name a few. They also want to do things like pottery on a potter’s wheel, finish walking the Cotswold Way, walking on the beach and eating at a Michelin starred restaurant. Simon has talked about how this whole journey is making him really appreciate the beauty and loveliness of everyday life and the world around us. He’s so desperately touched by the love and support being shown to them both."
