A YOUNG group of teenagers were left with a number of serious injuries after a brutal assault took place in Chipping Sodbury High Street.

The small group were in Hounds Road, just off the High Street, when they were set on by another group that were carrying knuckledusters.

The incident took place at around 7pm yesterday, with paramedics and police attending the scene.

Two of the victims were hospitalised as a result of their injuries, with one suffering a broken cheekbone and another sustaining broken ribs.

It comes after a number of incidents across Yate and Sodbury over the last few weeks.

A 54-year-old man was on life support for two weeks after he was found in Lilliput park with a number of injuries and another man was brutally assaulted in North Yate walking back from a pub.

One of the parents of the victims posted on Facebook: "If you are letting your children out in the chipping sodbury area please make sure they are safe.

"My daughter her boyfriend and friends were jumped tonight by a group of youths with knuckle dusters 2 are in hospital with injuries cracked cheek bone fractured ribs and waiting on an update of other injuries.

"This was totally an unprovoked attack.

"This is one of many attacks that have happened in the area recently.

"If anyone saw anything or has heard anything please contact the police this happened 7pm In Hounds Road."

Avon and Somerset Police released a statement following the incident, confirm enquiries were ongoing: "We were called to reports of an assault in Chipping Sodbury last night (Tuesday 10 March) at approximately 7.30pm.

“Two males were passed by a group of teenagers in Hounds Road. Three males from the group subsequently turned around and assaulted the pair.

“Both victims, who are in their late-teens, required medical treatment.

“CCTV and house-to-house enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101 and quote reference 5220058370.”
