MIDLAND Football League (MFL) bosses have decided to play on despite the outbreak of Covid-19.

Many leagues across the country are suspended due to the coronavirus that has claimed 35 lives and is rapidly spreading across the UK.

But MFL fixtures were allowed to continue on Saturday with some clubs opting not play, including City who reported five players had "flu-like symptoms".

It means City's match at Gresley on Tuesday (7.45) has the green light to go ahead, although it is not yet known whether members of Ashley Vincent's squad of staff remain under self-isolation.

The fixture had been due to take place last Tuesday but was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

A statement released by the MFL tonight (Sunday) read: "As per Saturday, the board has taken the decision that fixtures this week should continue.

"If we receive further instructions from either the Football Association or the government we will then reappraise the situation accordingly."

West Midlands (Regional) League, another competition that went ahead over the weekend, is scheduled to review its position tomorrow (Monday).

As things stand, Worcester Raiders travel to Littleton on Tuesday (7.45).

Pershore Town's home clash with Wolverhampton Sporting Community is listed but the host club has already signalled its intention to suspend play due to coronavirus fears.
