Some supermarkets have made an official announcement that items in their stores will all have a limit per customer.

It comes after a number of stores sold out of essential items amid the coronavius crisis.

Tesco and Asda made the announcement and other chains are expected to follow suit in the coming days.

A Tesco spokesman said: “To help our customers get the things they need, we are introducing a purchase limit of 3 items on all our products. Our stock levels are good, and we have daily deliveries to replenish our stores. We would ask our customers to please shop as they normally would."
