Thornbury Golf Centre has been presented with a number of awards.

The Bristol Road club, ran by Burhill Golf and Leisure Limited (BGL) won seven awards at the company's annual awards night in February.

Attendees from all 10 BGL golf venues, as well as the company’s leisure subsidiary, Adventure Leisure Ltd, were present for the celebratory evening, held at Hertfordshire venue Aldwickbury Park Golf Club.

Thornbury’s general manager, Tim Good, won the group’s most prestigious individual award, taking home the 2019 General Manager of the Year accolade.

Tim said: “I’m delighted and overwhelmed at the acknowledgement. On a personal level, it’s definitely the highlight of my career and it makes me very proud of everything we have achieved.

“For the club to be recognised for all the hard-work and accomplishments with the number of awards we have received is a credit to the fantastic team we have and I’m very grateful for all their efforts.”

As a collective, Thornbury won the headline award for the group’s golf division; Best Operating Profit Performance, as well as awards for Sales Performance, Retail Sales Performance, Retail Standards, Key Performance Driver and Food and Beverage Sales Performance.

Sales manager, Nicola Burrill, was named Employee of the Year as a result of co-ordinating the club’s efforts, which culminated in them receiving the most awards of any venue.

“Nicola has been so crucial to our operation and thoroughly deserves the plaudits for her part in the success of the club,” continued Tim.

“She has a very calm and calculated personality and has been pivotal in transforming the business over the past four years, so this award is the culmination of the hard-work and dedication that she has put in.”

Colin Mayes, BGL CEO, said: “I would like to congratulate Tim and his team for a truly outstanding year at Thornbury. The recognition is well deserved, and it’s a testament to their hard work and commitment to delivering a superior customer experience.”
