Avon and Somerset Police are today cracking down on people driving to destinations to then complete their daily exercise or to walk their dog.
Guidelines allow members of the public one form of exercise a day.
In a bid to hit home the 'Stay Home, Save Lives' message, police officers across South Gloucestershire will be handing out pamphlets and leaving them on abandoned cars.
The pamphlet states:
“Why are you here today?
“The Government restrictions currently in place DO NOT permit you to use your vehicle to travel to this location to exercise.
“Each and every one of us has been instructed to avoid all unnecessary travel. You are entitled to exercise once daily. This should be walking, running, cycling etc from your home address. You should not be driving to a location away from home to carry this out.
“Please refrain from unnecessary travel until the restrictions placed upon us all to tackle the coronavirus pandemic have been rescinded”
