Shoppers queue outside Tesco as new measures only allow 200 customers at any time.

Customers at Yate Tesco Extra are adhering to government guidelines when shopping for necessities, by queueing two metres apart outside the store, as Tesco limit their shoppers  to two-hundred at any one time.

As well as limiting the amount of people in the store, Tesco in Yate has also adopted a new entrance and exit scheme; shoppers are now to enter the store through the entrance by Marks and Spencers and exit at the opposite end closest to the cashpoints.

A shopper who attended the store during Sundays opening hours was impressed with the level of measures put in place by Tesco, he said:

”I queued for about thirty minutes to go into the shop, everyone maintained the two-metre gap, there is now a one way system in place which seemed to ensure social distancing was followed inside too.

“At the checkout you stand in your taped area and then put all of your shopping on the very end of the check out, then walk directly to the other end of the till to collect it all, which encourages minimal contact with the cashiers.

“I managed to get everything I went for, but some of the fresh produce seemed to be running low. It all seemed to be working fairly well”

A Tesco spokesperson said:

“We are introducing additional measures to protect our customers and colleagues, and ensure that everyone in our stores maintains a safe distance. We're asking customers to help by following some simple requests when they shop with us."
