Chedworth news with David Broad
AN eerie post apocalyptic silence has fallen over Chedworth.
No church bells, no sounds of happy children at St Andrews school, no sounds of the band practising on Tuesdays, just sounds of RAF Aircraft from Brize Norton and the occasional Baa from a new born lamb break the silence.
Even the birds fell silent during the cold blustery weather.
SOME residents have been appealing for help with getting supplies on Nextdoor as Chedworth has a fairly large over 70’s age group who are self isolating.
The Seven Tuns has been delivering take away meals and Chedworth Farm Shop remains open though allowing only one customer in at a time and they too have been doing deliveries.
ALL the events planned within the village have been cancelled.
The village hall is closed until further notice, the church spring clean scheduled for this Saturday is cancelled, National Theatre live is cancelled, Easter is cancelled, fun is cancelled, which leaves staying home streaming video on superfast broadband and dog walking as the only glimpse of normality for the many villagers unable to work during the crisis.
THE new recycling arrangements got off to a rocky start last week when few residents had the information on the changes in time and the vehicles had insufficient capacity so were unable to complete their rounds leaving many Chedworth property’s waste uncollected.
