A DRINK-driver who unlawfully took a car before crashing has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Connor Palmer (pictured) , 24, of Victoria Close, Dursley, pleaded guilty to three offences at Cheltenham Magistrates Court.

Magistrates heard how Palmer was stopped in his car on Innocks Estate, North Nibley, on January 18 this year.

Palmer was found to have 66 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

He also admitted driving without insurance, unlawfully taking a car, and being involved in an accident whereby damage was caused to fencing and two other vehicles.

Palmer was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and banned from driving for 18 months.

He was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work within the next twelve months, and ordered to pay costs totalling £600.
