A father and daughter from Stroud have raised more than £600 for the NHS after completing a half marathon each in their back garden.

Amelia, aged nine, and her dad Mark Harsant completed the garden challenge yesterday at their home in Rodborough.

Their marathon challenge included dribbling a football through four cones, and then doing three shuttle runs before returning to the ball and dribbling back through the cones for the next person to go in their two person relay.

They each completed 435 laps within six hours, 22 minutes and 52 seconds after starting at 8am.

Mark said: "We have been watching how the nation is using their initiative to carry out challenges in their homes or gardens during the lockdown, and Amelia suggested doing something and raising some money for the NHS as well.

"Amelia runs for Stroud Athletics Club and plays football for Rodborough Lionesses U10's so she was able to combine both of her favourite sports.

"She loved the challenge and we’ve raised over £600 so far for the NHS which we are very grateful for, so a huge thank you to everyone who has donated."
