New figures released by the Office for National Statistics, show deaths in Yate and Chipping Sodbury with coronavirus, have risen to a total of 14.

The latest figures released show the death toll for fatalities with Covid-19 noted as the underlying cause of death or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor.

The figures relate to all deaths across the UK, occurring between March, 1 2020 and May, 31 2020 and registered by June, 6 2020.

The ONS interactive map shows three deaths in North Yate, previous records had shown no deaths in this part of Yate.

Seven deaths have been recorded in the area named as Yate Kingsgate in the south side of the Yate. This number has risen from five up until April 17.

Four deaths were recorded in Chipping Sodbury.

Two deaths were recorded across Charfield, Wickwar and Iron Acton both in April.

One person lost their life in the Pucklechurch and Westerleigh areas.

Four people died with Covid-19 in Frampton Cotterell and Winterbourne combined.

The South West continues to have the lowest death rate.

The latest figures released show that the South West has the highest R Rate in the country, estimated to be between 0.8 and 1.1.
