A new art gallery has opened inside a 200-year-old barn in Thornbury.

Jenny Krupa and Bill Gumble opened the Art Barn on Grovesend Road earlier this month.

Work from local artists and those from further afield is on display and ranges from pottery and jewellery to paintings and sculptures.

Local work available to view includes paintings by Anne McAllister and Shirley Sharp as well as the pottery of Clare Stephens.

Jenny, a painter and metal worker, will also have some of her own work on display.

A participant in the Severn Vale Art Trail, Jenny hopes the barn will become a venue for the event from next year.

This year the event was cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, although work has been showcased on the Severn Vale Art Trail Facebook page.

The barn, formerly a piggery, has been empty since the death of potter Chris Zair in 2016.

Known to many as ‘Chris Pot’, his workshop was there for almost 40 years.

The Art Barn is open Monday to Saturday from 10am-4pm. Tea and is cake available and there is also an area to sit out.

Social distancing measures are currently in place. Hand sanitiser is available on arrival and there is a one-way system around the exhibition.
