Poundland is extending its store in Yate so that it can add its popular PEP&CO family fashion to its wide range of groceries and everyday essentials.

The store at South Walk, Yate Shopping Centre, has been extended by more than a third after Poundland took over space previously occupied by former next-door neighbour Bonmarché.

The extension, including the new PEP&CO “shop in shop” will open Saturday, June 27, and will create five new jobs.

The Yate store has remained open during lockdown as an essential retailer with the team playing an important role supporting their local community.

All the work has been carried out in line with official guidelines on safe working during Covid-19.

Hygiene and social distancing measures have been put in place to protect customers and colleagues.

The Yate store already offers customers an extensive range of items, from groceries to cleaning products and health and beauty to stationery at simple prices.

The extension provides the space to offer Poundland’s PEP&CO fashion for the whole family, bringing a new brand of affordable clothing to Yate.

Prices start at £1 and 95 per cent of the range is under £10.

Poundland area manager Jeremy Salway said:

“Yate is great and we’re delighted that we’ve got more space to bring customers our fantastic PEP&CO range as well as the everyday essentials they know and love.

“Our colleagues have been there to help customers during lockdown and we’re looking forward to making a valuable contribution to the town’s long-term future.”
