An 36-year-old Stow-on-the-Wold businessman has pleaded guilty to attempting to rape the girl, aged between nine and 11, as she slept.

The man, who cannot be named by court order, had already admitted two charges of sexual assault of the girl between April 2017 and June last year.

He further pleaded guilty to four charges of taking indecent images of a child between the same dates and three of distributing some of the images.

David Dixon, 34, of no fixed address, has appeared in court after previously pleaded guilty to two charges of robbery and one of affray.

The victim, a woman from Stroud, had befriended Dixon over the past three years and they had supported each other through a number of bereavements.

Armed police were called to her home after she was threatened with a knife and robbed her, a court heard.
