A NURSERY in Chipping Sodbury is raising funds to install acoustic ‘sound clouds’ to support their early-years children.

Sodbury Vale Day Nursery is trying to raise £4,600 to have the specialist ‘clouds’ installed to lower the high ceilings in their main room.

High ceilings can cause bad acoustics which can make interacting and engaging hard for children with communication difficulties.

In Sodbury Vale, approximately 30 per cent of the children require extra support with their communication and language development.

Currently, the nursery have raised just over half of their target and are aiming to raise the rest before the new school term in September.

Nursery manager Julie Norcombe said: “We are really grateful to have raised the amount we have so far, we had lots of things planned when we started the fundraising but with the virus forcing our closure, a lot of those things haven’t been able to go ahead.

“Communication is vital for children’s learning and we know these clouds will really help a lot of our children, we are hoping that the public will support us and just donate whatever they can. Once the clouds are installed, they will not only benefit the children here now, but all children that come to us in the future too.”
