More changes are being made to Thornbury High Street.
The section of road between Chapel Street and The Close (where the closure currently starts) will be closed from tomorrow (Friday, July 3).
Traffic entering the top of the High Street will be directed down Chapel Street in a move South Gloucestershire Council hope will reduce cars turning in the area and make it safer for children exiting the playing fields.
Residents and blue badge holders will still be able to use this stretch of road.
Other changes coming into force tomorrow include a one-way system for delivery vehicles.
Additional disabled parking spaces are being introduced, while signs and welfare facilities will be replaced with barriers. The council says planters are on order which will eventually replace these.
A Facebook post from South Gloucestershire Council StreetCare stated: "We're making some changes tomorrow which continue to provide a safe environment enabling people to keep to social distancing rules.
"The changes are also intended to support pubs and hospitality reopening and encourage people back to the High Street.
"A full consultation for the scheme will start in August where we'll also be asking for views on the future of the High Street."
