Hampshire police were busy on Saturday night as local pubs reopened for the first time in four months.

Hundreds of pubgoers flocked to popular haunts such as Wetherspoon's The Angel and The Maidenhead Inn to order their first pints as lockdown continues to ease.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary, said: "Officers across Hampshire and the IOW were busier on Saturday night as local businesses reopened for the first time in four months.

"We had prepared for this and had sufficient officers on duty within a wide range of teams to respond to incidents and emergencies.

"The vast majority of people out were sensible and enjoyed themselves.

"We had patrol plans in place throughout the weekend to ensure the easing of restrictions continued to be approached safely."

More of a police presence picked up towards the end of Super Saturday where queues were seen extending around the corner outside The Angel and The Maidenhead Inn.
