A VAN driver who crashed into a road sign and ran from the police has been arrested.
Officers were called to what is thought to be a domestic dispute in Beechcroft Road at 12.45am this morning.
A man in his 30s was reported to have assaulted a woman in her 20s and another man in his 30s before making off in a white Ford Transit van.
Police saw the van crash into sign on Thamesdown Drive and the driver fled the scene before hiding for an hour.
A police helicopter helped with the search and the man was arrested on suspicion of common assault, ABH, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, Section 4 drug/driving and dangerous driving.
He is being held at Gablecross custody for questioning.
