Yate Town Football Club have announced the appointment of a new first team manager.

Paul Michael has taken over at Lodge Road following Paul 'Polly' Britton standing down, last week.

Paul Michael leaves his current club, Cinderford Town to join the Bluebells .

He has managed the Southern League One club for almost four years and guided The Foresters to the play off final last season.

Director of football Richard Thompson is pleased with the appointment, hoping the new manager can continue to push the club forward.

He said:

"When I came back to the football club I never expected Polly's resignation almost immediately, I offered my resignation at the same time but was convinced by Polly to stay and push the club forward.

"However, what has happened has happened and it's now time to move on.

"Paul has been chosen as the new manager of Yate Town Football Club and I will be there to give as much support as I possibly can".

New manager, Paul Michael is looking forward to competing in the Southern Premier league with the Bluebells, he said:

"I had good knowledge of the club, Polly has put a really good base down for someone to come in and move the club forward and I thought it was a really good opportunity.

"I have managed against Yate on a couple of occasions and the pitch is first class, I like my team's to pass the ball and attack, and with the club being a level up it was a no brainer to apply."

Club spokesperson Seb Parker added:

"We are delighted to welcome Paul Michael to the football club.

"The number of high quality applicants was very pleasing and we believe Paul is the perfect fit for the job.

"He will bring ambition and drive to not only keep the club in the Southern Premier League but also to take the club forward long term."
