THESE are just a selection of the many pubs across the area which reopened for the first time in months on Saturday.
Easing of social distancing rules made it possible for many to welcome customers for the first time since March.
The new one-metre social distancing rule allows people to be closer together in areas where staying two metres apart isn’t possible, as long as they take sensible steps to decrease the risk of transmission.
Measures in place in some pubs include one-way systems and hand sanitiser stations.
Some pubs are offering table service only, while many are maximising their use of outdoor space.
This includes The Swan in Thornbury, where owner Sandra Davies has extended the outdoor area as well as putting tables and chairs out the front to take advantage of the high street being closed to traffic.
Speaking ahead of the pub’s reopening Sandra said: “I think there’s going to be a lot of learning on both sides as it’s going to be totally new.
“There are lots of things people will have to get accustomed to.”
Restaurants and hairdressers were also given permission to re-open from July 4.
