WE have seen yet more hypocrisy from government ministers regarding free TV licences for over-75s. The blame lies not with the BBC but the government itself. Oliver Dowden should look in the mirror to see the cause of his feeling “let down” over the issue.

This comes on top of blatant disregard by government ministers and Dominic Cummings of lockdown measures and the cowardly and disgusting attempt to blame care homes for the death toll of residents.

Care homes and the NHS have been heroic and coped well in spite of government incompetence.

The statement by Age UK about the TV licence issue is also disappointing. It should have blamed the body responsible, the government, not criticised the BBC. Shame on you, Age UK. It might rebound on the charity in the future.
