A virtual duck race held in Bourton has helped raise over £850.

North Cotswold Rotary and Rotary in the Rissingtons collaborated to run the annual Bourton Duck Race as a virtual event after the coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the popular event.

A small team of volunteers went down to Bourton early one morning in June and filmed three races on the River Windrush.

The races were edited and a voice over commentary was made before they were broadcast on North Cotswold Rotary’s YouTube channel on July 4.

The virtual event was a huge success with 80 percent of the ducks sold and one race selling out.

Ducks were bought from all over the UK making it a truly national event.

North Cotswold Rotary and Rotary in the Rissingtons would like to thank Harrison James and Hardie, Beautylicious and The Cotswold Brew Company for donating prizes for the winning duck in each race.

They would also like to thank everyone who bought a duck and for embracing this novel fundraising idea.

Money raised will go to the local and national charities supported by North Cotswold Rotary.
