THE outdoor pool in Sharpness will not be re-opening this year.
Sharpness Community Swimming Trust (SCST) announced the news earlier today.
Some open air pools have already reopened, with lidos given the go-ahead to resume business at the weekend.
But after much deliberation the team decided deferring opening would ensure the long term future of the pool.
Trust chairman Dave Ashford said: “Sadly, as we will already make a large financial loss this year and with the extra training required, and reduced numbers allowed in at a time, this would result in an even greater loss, and potentially harm our future.
"So, with this, along with the risk presented by Covid, we have decided it’s not worth us taking the chance as your safety is paramount.”
