FLORAL displays in Cam will be getting a boost thanks to two sets of garden centre vouchers awarded to the volunteer gardening group Blooming Cam.

Dursley Tangent Club donated an £80.00 voucher from Leaf & Ground and the Dursley and Cam Society gave the group a National Garden Gift voucher worth £100.

So far, only £15 of the voucher money has been spent on compost but Blooming Cam is looking forward to stocking up on shrubs, flowers, bulbs and seeds to help keep the centre of Cam looking colourful.

Volunteer Jo Lewis said they were delighted with the vouchers.

She said: “We were overwhelmed by the generosity of Dursley Tangent Club and the Dursley and Cam Society. It will make a real difference to our planting schemes.”

During the lockdown period only two of the volunteers have been regularly gardening but now all five members are back out in force with the aim of making Cam look better with planting, weeding, cutting back and clearing.

Blooming Cam currently focuses mainly on the flower beds along Noel Lee Way and the garden around Lower Cam War Memorial.

The team meet on Wednesday afternoons at 2pm outside Cam Parish Council offices on 4 Noel Lee Way.

New members are always welcome.
