WINTERBOURNE residents are being called on by South Gloucestershire Council to have their say on plans to improve road safety on one of the village’s well used roads.

The proposals would look to reduce the existing 40mph speed limit to 30mph on the B4058 Bristol Road from Hambrook to Winterbourne Hill.

A public consultation has been launched today by South Gloucestershire Council, following public support from local Conservative campaigners, with residents and parents being encouraged to have their voices heard.

Cllrs Trevor Jones and Nic Labuschagne, who represent Winterbourne, said: “Having campaigned for improved safety measures around the village, we are delighted that South Gloucestershire Council is considering installing these new speed control measures and want to thank them for bringing them to the public for consultation.

“With the road usage increasing compared to recent months, it is important that we are doing what we can now to protect pedestrians and all other road users, and we hope residents will show a unified voice to support road safety in their community.”

The public consultation is now underway and concludes on Wednesday, September 30.
