Residents in Yate have been in touch with MP Luke Hall with concerns about the Goose Green Way footpath, on the right hand side on the approach towards Tesco.
The path is currently uneven and very narrow, making it difficult for pushchairs and wheelchair users to use the path and children to return to school.
South Gloucestershire Council have added the site to their list of footway schemes that are to be prioritised for refurbishment.
Luke Hall said “As our children return to school, it is vital that our footpaths are in the best shape possible to encourage families to walk to school and ensure that parents with pushchairs can easily access them.
"I am delighted that the Council are taking swift action to address this, and encourage residents to get in touch if they have concerns about any other footpaths in the local area.”
