Chipping Sodbury Rotary club have continued their charity work and financial contributions throughout lockdown.

In July, following an insight by fellow rotary club member, Phil Godfrey, Chipping Sodbury’s members pledged a contribution to APS UK.

APS UK seeks to raise awareness into the illness that is similar to MS.

The club were also delighted to pledge financial support to the Chipping Sodbury School Rotary Racer Greenpower Team to help purchase Covid-19 compliant protective clothing to enable them to compete once racing starts again.

Club President Stuart Fraser said: “Whilst the club contributions remain significantly affected due to the Covid-19 restrictions we can reflect with satisfaction the contributions that our club has made throughout the pandemic.

“The World Health Organisation has now reported that the entirety of Africa is now polio free.

"We, as a club, alongside thousands of other globally, have contributed to polio charities and whilst further work remains to be done in those two countries it is very heartening to acknowledge the progress made as we approach World Polio Day on 24 October.”

The club has taken to Zoom to conduct its meetings and now has an active Facebook page with regular posts updating on their activities and beneficiaries.
