To celebrate British Food Fortnight - which runs from September 19 to - October 4 - we have put together a list of great meals to enjoy in the Dursley, Thornbury, Sodbury and Yate area this weekend.
British Food Fortnight is a national celebration of British food and the health benefits and pleasures of eating quality, fresh, seasonal and regional produce.
1. The Rose and Crown Farmhouse Kitchen, Nympsfield (GL10 3TU)
Stunning sous vide lamb, with confit garlic, rosemary and bay leaves.

2.Old Spot Inn, Hill Road, Dursley (GL11 4JQ)
Nothing beats a traditional Sunday roast dinner, and now the Old Spot are offering takeaway roasts, which are available to pre-order (see pic below).
All roasts are served with roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cheesy leeks, Yorkshire pudding and rich gravy
Eating in the pub is of course an option too. On Sundays there are two sittings, 12-2pm or 2.15pm-4pm, and tables can also be reserved in the garden.

3.The Walled Garden Cafe at Berkeley Castle, Berkeley Castle, Berkeley (GL13 9PJ)
Try the eggs Benedict or Florentine or indulge yourself with a Walled Garden Cafe English breakfast. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free breakfast options available. The cafe is now serving breakfast from 9.30am to 11.30am on Saturdays and Sundays.

5.The Swan at Tytherington, Duck Street, Tytherington near Thornbury (GL12 8QB)
Wow what a starter! Pan fried scallops served with chorizo paste, crispy Parma ham, black pudding and garlic aioli. Absolutely delicious says the chef.

Mmmmm you can almost smell the aroma from this chef's special - lamb cutlets served with roasted tender stem broccoli, sautéed baby potatoes and a basil and mint pesto.
